Judyth Timm, B.A.Ed., M.A.Ed., A.M.S., Founder of Courthouse Montessori School
Judy Timm founded CMS VA in the fall of 1994 based on the principles of faith, love, hope and the philosophy of Maria Montessori. As a graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College, and having researched several philosophies on education, Judy came to believe the Montessori philosophy was the best way to teach children.
While completing her master's in education at Hampton University, an opportunity developed that would make Judy's secret dream of having her own school a reality. In a rapid succession of events, Judy received the keys to the building on July 18, 1994. Just six weeks later, she opened the doors to her first ten students.
Judy has a Montessori diploma in early childhood education and a Montessori diploma in elementary education. She is listed in Who's Who and was selected as Woman of the Year based on her outstanding accomplishments and the noble example she has set for her peers and the entire community. Additionally, Judy is listed in the Library of Congress.
After twenty-four years, CMS VA has grown to hold more than 160 students per year. CMS VA continues to grow and nurture children in Virginia Beach based on the fundamental principles set by Judy when she opened the school. It is an honor and a privilege to teach and nurture our CMA VA students as they grow and blossom into the next generation of our great nation.
